A Quaint Kentucky Expression
Jodie Nichols

Barrel Location: Madison County Public Library

Artist Bio: Jodie Nichols was born in Lexington, KY in 1986, but was raised in Joplin, Missouri.  She returned to Kentucky to attend Asbury Collenge in Wilmore, where she is currently a junior majoring in Art with a double emphasis in Painting and Art History.  She is a very active student on campus, where she has been participating in several music ensembles, theatre productions, student government, and works as the intern of the Asbury College Art Gallery and the Kentucky Historical Society, however most of her time is spent doing what she loves most: painting.  After completing her B.A. next year, Jodie plans to pursue an MFA in painting, and one day she hopes to do museum work or become an art professor, as well as running her own professional studio.

Artist’s Interpretation: I have chosen to express the quaint beauty of the Kentucky landscape using bright and vivid hues, to give the traditional, natural  scene  a contemporary twist. The purpose of this scene is to be a reminder that it is our duty to take care of this beautiful place around us.
