Teacher Ida Palmer and her 1st Grade Class at Good Shepherd
Barrel Location: Salato Wildlife Education Center, Franklin County
Artist Bio: The Good Shepherd School (Frankfort) Rain Barrel was painted by the 1st grade teacher Ida Palmer-Ball. The students, faculty and staff all signed the barrel as a sign of their commitment to recycling. Each week, classes take their recycling out for curbside pickup.
Artist’s Interpretation: The quilt designs on the barrel were chosen for their relation to water, earth and sky. The lower designs for water are Ocean Waves, Goose Tracks and Water Wheel. The middle blocks for earth are Hills and Valleys, Bear Tracks and Rolling Stones. The upper designs for sky are Flying Geese, Evening Star and Falling Star.
