From New Circle Rd., take the Alumni Drive exit and go away from the UK campus and towards Man O War.  Turn Right onto Man O War.  The next street is Pimlico, and turn right onto Pimlico.  PRIDE's office is located in the Park Hills shopping center, which you will see on the left once you turn onto Pimlico.  We are on the left side of the center, but our office is hard to see from the parking lot. Park once you see a Cricket and DNR Work From Home.  Our door is the right of DNR Work From Home.


Amy Sohner

Executive Director

Amy is a graduate of the University of Kentucky with a B.S. in Natural Resource Conservation and Management.  After taking time to travel Amy settled back down in Kentucky where she spent time time knee deep in wetlands and students as an environmental educator at both the KY Departemnt of Fish and Wildlife Resources and 4-H. Amy started at PRIDE in 2002 as a Program Manager and then soon became Deputy Director.  In 2006 Amy took on the roll of Executive Director, and enjoys the new challenge.  She lives in rural Fayette County with her husband, daughter, dogs and cats.


Michelle Patterson 
Administrative Assistant
Michelle Patterson majored in Mass Communications at Eastern Kentucky University. Now the mother of three children she saw how important environmental education was for a brighter future and was more than happy to join Bluegrass Pride as their new Administrative Assistant. Michelle enjoys sports, gardening and spending time with her friends and family.  She lives in rural Fayette County with her husband, three children, dog and cats.


Maxine Rudder

Education Director

Maxine Rudder has been with PRIDE since 2004.  She was the Education Coordinator for two years and  has recently taken on the role of Education Director.  Before joining PRIDE, Maxine was a teacher in London, Kentucky for 28 years.  She attended Eastern Kentucky University where she earned a teaching certificate in Biology and Chemistry.  She also has certifications in Supervision K-12 and Secondary Principalship.  As a retired teacher and administrator, Maxine’s responsibilities at PRIDE are to develop classroom activities, design units of study, and align educational materials to Kentucky Core Content.  Maxine can be reached at Maxine@kentuckypride.com


Ester Moberly

Program Manager

Esther has and B.A. in Business Management from Asbury College (KY), and a M.S. in Education, Curriculum Systems Designed from the University of Kentucky.  Prior to coming to Bluegrass PRIDE she served as the Environmental Education Coordinator for the Fayette County Conservation District for almost 2 years, and worked as a County Extension Agent for 4-H and Youth Development for 10 years.  She is originally from Arecibo, Puerto Rico, but resides in Wilmore, KY with her husband, Jamie, and her son, Ethan.


Carol Bradford
Carol Bradford

Environmental Educator

Carol Bradford is one of the new Environmental Educators for the Elementary schools.  Carol received a BA degree at Rhodes College, and a Master’s in Social Work at the Univ. of Tennessee.   She is a certified teacher in Kentucky and taught kindergarten for three years at Co-op Pre-School and Kindergarten in Lexington.  Carol lives in Lexington with her husband and two children and a menagerie of animals.  Carol can be reached at carol@kentuckypride.com.


Patty Stivender
Pattie Stivender

Environmental Educator

Pattie Stivender is an Environmental Educator working with Fayette County elementary schools.  Pattie attended Eastern Kentucky University where she majored in Occupational Therapy.  Pattie developed a passion for environmental education while working for UK’s Cooperative Extension Service in 4-H/Youth Development.  She spent three years in FCPS directing summer camps and after school activities.  Pattie, a Lexington resident, enjoys camping and hiking with her family and dogs.  Pattie can be reached at pattie@kentuckypride.com.


Tammy Patrick
Tammy Patrick

Finance Officer

Tammy graduated from Morehead State University with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration with an accounting emphasis.  She obtained her Certified Public Accountant license in 1997 while working as an auditor for the Auditor of Public Accounts.  There she specializes in local government audits and manages the annual state wide audit of Motor Vehicle Registrations.  Since 2006, Tammy has also worked part-time as PRIDE’s finance officer.  Her work there allows her to learn about recycling and use her accounting skills to benefit the environment.  She lives in Clark County with her husband, Mitchell, and dog, Halle, a boxer.


Brooke Carmichael
Brooke Carmichael

Brooke Carmichael is a graduate of Portland State University in Portland, Oregon. Brooke received a B.S. in Geography with a concentration in Sustainability and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Energy Management from New York Institute of Technology. Her focus as an Environmental Educator is coal education in Central Kentucky. Brooke grew up in Ashland, KY and now resides in Lexington with her son, Elijah. Kara Benge
Kara Benge

Kara Benge is the new Environmental Educator at Bluegrass PRIDE for Middle and High School grade levels. Kara has obtained a B.A. with a focus on Ecological Design and Sustainable Agriculture at The Evergreen State College. She also received an A.S. in Environmental Technology at Bluegrass Community and Technical College. Kara is a Jessamine County native and is currently living in Lexington with her son Cyrus. Crista Dittert
Crista Dittert

Crista Dittert joins Bluegrass PRIDE this year as a new Environmental Educator. Crista’s position is unique in that it is in affiliation with Eastern Kentucky University’s AmeriCorps SERV Program. As an AmeriCorps member, Crista will be working primarily with PRIDE’s outreach programs throughout Central Kentucky. Crista attended Wheeling Jesuit University in Wheeling, West Virginia before completing her B.A. in chemistry from the University of Kentucky. She perpetually looks forward to autumn (for with it come UK football and Keeneland’s fall meet) and enjoys working with youth.
